All is not well in West Bengal. Latest move is- Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee blocked governor Jagdeep Dhankhar from her Twitter account on Monday, a day after he said the state had become "a gas chamber for democracy", in signs that ties between the two leaders neared a point of no return following years of acrimony. "I apologise for it in advance. He (Jagdeep Dhankhar) tweets something every day abusing me or my officers. Says unconstitutional, unethical things. He instructs not advises. Treats an elected government like bonded labour. That's why I have blocked him from my Twitter account. I was getting irritated," Mamata Banerjee said at a news conference.
"I have written several letters to the PM about him. That the Governor is not listening and he is threatening everyone. I have even been to him and spoke with him. "We have been patiently suffering for the past year. He has not cleared several files. He is keeping every file pending. How he can speak about policy decisions," CM Mamata Banerjee said. Mamata Banerjee even accused Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar of "tapping phones" and "threatening" the state's chief secretary and director general of police. "Why PM has not removed him [Governor]? Pegasus is running from Governor house. He is tapping phones," she said.
Addressing reporters on Sunday, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said CM Mamata Banerjee is "constitutionally ordained to discharge duty under Article 167 of the constitution to impart information on Pandemic Purchase Scam and other issues".
