Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled rail and road infrastructure projects worth Rs 3,250 crore, aimed at strengthening connectivity and accelerating development in West Bengal and the North East. At a public function in Malda in north Bengal, the Prime Minister virtually flagged off four Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting New Jalpaiguri with Nagercoil and Tiruchirappalli, and Alipurduar with SMVT Bengaluru and Mumbai (Panvel). He launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress while addressing a public rally in Malda, calling it “extremely insensitive and ruthless” and urging people to bring change in West Bengal. Modi said he wanted “every poor household in Bengal to have its own permanent home” and ensured that those entitled should receive “free ration” and the full benefits of welfare schemes run by the Central government. However, he alleged that these benefits were not reaching people due to corruption at the state level. He gave a clarion call for change and a clear pitch for a BJP-led government in the state- declaring "Paltano darkar, chayee BJP sarkar." Bengal's biggest challenge is infiltration, he said. Modi claimed that people of India, especially Gen Z, have reposed faith in BJP's development model.

PM Modi further said that for decades, eastern India was held captive by those who practised divisive politics. The BJP has freed these states from their clutches... Odisha has formed a BJP government for the first time. Tripura has trusted the BJP for many years. In the recent elections in Assam, it has shown its trust in the BJP. And Bihar has chosen BJP-NDA government once again.
