Union Minister & JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has alleged that the Congress is spreading misinformation about VB—G RAM G bill by claiming that Mahatma Gandhi has been insulted. The Congress has been in power for a long time. For any major flagship schemes, how many schemes have they named after Mahatma Gandhi? How many such schemes have been named in Karnataka?, he asked. Talking reporters in Bengaluru, Kumarswamy said, the Congress has declared that this scheme is anti-people. In what way does this cause injustice to the general public and daily wage workers?.
He said, this scheme was originally started in 2005. Some changes have now been made to the scheme. He alleged that the Congress is carrying out a major misinformation campaign in the state and across the country. Kumarswamy added that "Funds for this scheme are provided by the Central Government. In which states has this funding been used responsibly, and where has it been misused? For the same work, bills have been submitted multiple times, and vested interests have exploited the funds." Based on investigation reports into these issues, the Central Government has introduced this new Bill. It has been enacted to address the shortcomings of the MGNREGA scheme, he said.
