'I support the organisation not BJP & RSS': Digvijay Singh after row

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh first praised RSS and BJP by sharing an old picture but later he was forced to clarify his intention. On Saturday morning Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh shared a throwback image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and praised the organisational strength of the BJP and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Singh posted online the Quora screenshot that showed BJP veteran LK Advani attending an event in Gujarat. A young PM Modi is seen sitting on the floor, near Advani. Referring to him, the Congress leader praised how grassroots workers who once sat on the floor could grow within the Sangh-BJP ecosystem and become Chief Minister and Prime Minister. The picture, which Singh called "impactful". This is the power of organisation. Jai Siya Ram," the Rajya Sabha MP said in his x post.

After huge controversy, he later issued a clarification and told reporters that he had only praised the organisation, but he would continue opposing the BJP and RSS.

The BJP taunted Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over Singh's post. Party spokesperson CR Kesavan said that Singh's comment has exposed the "autocratic and undemocratic" Congress leadership. "Will Rahul Gandhi show courage & react to the shocking Truth Bomb dropped by Shri. Digvijaya Singh's tweet which has totally exposed how Congress first family ruthlessly runs the party in a dictatorial manner and also how autocratic & undemocratic this Congress leadership is? " he said in an X post.
