Pakistani terrorist was killed during a joint operation by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, officials said on Sunday.According to the Army, the operation was launched on the intervening night of March 14 and 15 in the general area of Buchhar following specific intelligence inputs from the Jammu and Kashmir Police about an infiltration attempt along the border.“Based on a specific intelligence input provided by #JKP regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched on intervening night of 14-15 Mar 26 in Gen area Buchhar, Uri sector,” Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army said in a post on X.

The Army said troops detected suspicious movement of a terrorist in a dense thicket during the operation.“The ambush was readjusted and the terrorist was challenged resulting in terrorist opening indiscriminate fire. In the contact, a Pak terrorist was eliminated. Warlike stores including an AK rifle, pistols and large quantity of ammunition have been recovered,” the Army said.
In a separate incident earlier on Saturday, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) lost his life during an anti-terrorist operation in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.The Army’s White Knight Corps said Subedar Sandeep Kumar Dhaka slipped and fell while operating in difficult terrain during prolonged operations in the general area of Poonch under Operation Sheri Kalan.“While operating in the challenging and rugged terrain during prolonged operations in the general area of Poonch, as part of Operation Sheri Kalan, today at about 2.30 pm, Subedar Sandeep Kumar Dhaka slipped and fell on ground and subsequently became unresponsive,” the Army said in a statement.
