India on Friday administered over two crore vaccine doses against the coronavirus disease, setting a new record on PM Narendra Modi's 71st birthday. This is the first time that more than two crore jabs have been administered in a single day. Rahul Gandhi posted a one-line greeting without comment.

The BJP has sought to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on Friday historic by administering a record Covid-19 vaccine doses. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said this is the fastest pace at which one crore doses have been administered. As of Friday morning, India had administered a total of over 77 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

As many as 2,11,28,784 doses of the vaccine were administered during the day at the time of filing the report, according to data available on the government-run Co-WIN portal. India took 85 days to touch the 10-crore vaccination mark, 45 more days to cross the 20-crore mark and 29 more days to reach the 30-crore mark, according to the health ministry.
