The Indian share market traded on a positive note on Monday, snapping a five day losing streak,led by broad-based buying across sectors amid easing geopolitical tensions and a sharp decline in crude oil prices.At close, the Sensex was up 776.01 points or 1.02 percent at 76,835.78, and the Nifty was up 228.50 points or 0.96 percent at 23,995.95.
Eternal, Interglobe Aviation, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, Shriram Finance were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included ONGC, Cipla, HDFC Life, HDFC Bank, Dr Reddy's Labs.On the sectoral front,Nifty Media emerged as the top performer, rising 2.4%, followed by Nifty IT, Nifty Auto and Nifty Pharma, according to agency reports.The broader markets also ended higher, broadly in line with the benchmark indices. The Nifty Midcap 100 rose 1% while the Nifty Smallcap 100 gained 1.3%.
Rupee Close:
On 27 July'26,the Indian rupee appreciated sharply by 61 paise to close at 95.92 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar on Monday , driven by a steep correction in crude oil prices after the U.S. and Iran paused the war in West Asia, triggering hopes of easing global trade tensions.According to Forex traders, the local currency also found support from a firm trend in domestic equities and weakness in the U.S. Dollar against major currencies.
