NEP follows ‘Nai Talim’ of Mahatma Gandhi -Naidu

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu  has said that the New Education Policy follows the ‘Nai Talim’ of Mahatma Gandhi by giving importance to the mother tongue as the medium of instruction at school level. Addressing the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Wardha on Tuesday, the Vice President recalled that the "Nai Talim" proposed by Mahatma Gandhi in Wardha in 1937 laid emphasis on making mother tongue as the medium of instruction in addition to free compulsory education and skill training to the students. Naidu said that our Constituent Assembly, after a long debate, accepted Hindi as the official language and also accorded constitutional status to other Indian languages in the Eighth Schedule. Noting that every Indian language has a glorious history and rich literature,  but we are fortunate to have linguistic diversity in our country. Our linguistic diversity is our strength as our languages symbolize our cultural unity, He said.

-Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal has said that Production Linked Incentive scheme for textile sector will increase the global footprint of the country's products. He said, this 10 thousand 683 crore rupees scheme will create over seven lakh 50 thousand direct jobs. The Minister further said, approval of seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Parks will attract investment, promote technology development and generate three lakh direct and indirect employment in every mega park. Interacting virtually with the leaders of Textile Industry on Tuesday,  Goyal said, textile industry must collectively put forth their efforts to achieve their targets on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. He asked the industry leaders to work collectively for achieving the target of 100 billion dollar exports in textile sector. He said, robust export numbers helping the country to realize the dream of Local goes Global and Make in India for the world. He informed that textiles export increased by 45 per cent during April to November last year and reached to around 17 billion dollar. He thanked the Prime Minister for the decision to defer the increase of GST slab from 5 per cent to 12 per cent for Textiles sector. He said, government is trying to get new markets for textiles through Free Trade Agreements. He informed that in all the ongoing negotiations with major countries like UK, UAE, Canada, EU, Australia, there is a special focus on getting concessional duties for Textile products. 

-Women and Child Development Ministry has invited nominations for Nari Shakti Puraskar 2021 to be awarded on the occasion of International Women's Day on 8th March this year. The nominations will be accepted only through online mode on www.awards.gov.in.   All nominations received upto 31st January will be considered for the Nari Shakti Puraskar. Women and Child Development Ministry has been celebrating International Women's Day every year by felicitating eminent women, organisations and institutions with Nari Shakti Puraskar.
-Director-General of National Cadet Corps, Lt General Gurbirpal Singh formally inaugurated NCC Republic Day Camp - 2022 at Delhi Cantt on Tuesday. The Republic Day Camp is held at the culmination of one complete year of training of NCC cadets and is conducted at Parade Ground, Delhi Cantonment from 1st to 29th January every year.The Camp is attended by around 2,200 cadets, specially selected from all over India. Inter Directorate competitions in training, cultural competitions and National Integration awareness programmes are conducted during the month-long camp. Two NCC marching contingents participate in the Republic Day Parade on Rajpath on 26th January every year. To commemorate India’s 75 years of Independence, the theme of this year’s Republic Day Camp is ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

-Punjab Government has imposed night curfew in municipal limits of all cities and towns in the state with certain exceptions amid surge in Covid-19 positive cases. The curfew will be effective from 10pm to 5am. However, essential activities will be permitted during these hours. The other restrictions announced in the State include wearing masks in public places and enforcing social distancing. The fresh restrictions were announced after Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi chaired a review meeting to take stock of the Covid-19 situation in the state. Bars, cinemas halls, malls, restaurants, and spas will operate at 50% capacity subject to staff being fully vaccinated, while gyms will remain closed. All educational institutions including school and colleges will remain closed, and online teaching will continue. No restrictions have been announced regarding political meetings or rallies.These restrictions will be in force till January 15.

-In Bihar, the number of daily Covid cases continues to increase with 344 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. The number of active covid cases in the state increased to 1,385.  In last three days, a total of 168 doctors and MBBS students of Nalanda Medical College Hospital(NMCH) have tested positive. Three judges of Patna High Court were also tested positive. Meanwhile over one lakh 60 thousand youngesters received jab so far in the state so far.
