The Government has made it clear that there is no proposal to introduce a separate budget for agriculture. Answering questions in the Lok Sabha, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar said, the Government gives topmost priority to agriculture, adding, the vision for the prosperity of the farmers is reflected in the Union Budget itself. The minister said, in the Union Budget, the substantial allocation has been made for agriculture, which has increased by 379 percent to nearly 1,32,514 crore rupees in 2022-23, as compared to 2013-14. He recalled that the Railway Budget has also been unified with the General Budget, which has proved to be effective.
-Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the country has developed it's own indigenously developed 4G core and radio network. He said, the 5G network is also in its final stages of development and the country is participating in the development of 6G standards, in the thought process of 6G. He was addressing ‘India Telecom 2022’ - an Exclusive International Business Expo on Tuesday. The Minister said that 5G network will pave the way for bringing new use cases to life that can lead to a proliferation of FinTech solutions in the Indian as well as in Global markets. Vaishnaw said, India has emerged as a major electronics manufacturing hub. Today, electronics manufacturing in India is close to 75 billion US dollars. It's growing at more than 20 percent Compound Annual Growth Rate. He said, the government has launched a major semiconductor programme, a very comprehensive programme in which right from silicon chip to compound semiconductors, design-led manufacturing, creating a series of entrepreneurs in design and also finally to develop 85 thousand semiconductor engineers.
-Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced a new partnership under the Sustainable Access to Markets and Resources for Innovative Delivery of Healthcare (SAMRIDH) initiative. It will improve access to affordable and quality healthcare for vulnerable populations in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, and rural and tribal regions. This partnership will enhance SAMRIDH’s efforts to reach vulnerable populations, leveraging Atal Innovation Mission expertise in innovation and entrepreneurship. The collaboration will focus on innovations across the healthcare landscape with the common goal to mount an effective response to the ongoing third wave of COVID-19 and build health system preparedness for the future. Speaking during the virtual launch of the event, Chief Executive Officer, NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant said that blended financing has the potential to redefine development finance, by enabling partnerships. He said, it will unlock greater pools of affordable capital for scaling-up businesses that deliver both financial and social returns.
-The Kerala High Court upheld the revocation of uplink and downlink permission to Media One News and Current Affairs Channel by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The restriction was placed on the Channel after the Ministry of Home Affairs denied security clearance to the channel. Justice N Nagaresh on Tuesday dismissed the petition filed by the company running the channel, after going through the files furnished by the Ministry of Home Affairs, which recommended against the renewal of the license. Dismissing the writ petition against the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting order, the Court noted that the denial of clearance by the Ministry of Home Affairs was based on intelligence inputs that justify denial of security clearance to the channel.
-Nagaland Government has declared the entire State as drought of a Moderate nature. Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority said, that the decision was taken due to arising of rainfall deficiency, and the poor crop conditions as well as the distress situation that had developed in almost the entire farming area affected by these conditions. It said, based on the scanty deficit and less than normal rainfall that has been observed from March to November 2021, the declaration of drought would come into effect from 15th September 2021, and would continue to be in effect for 6 months, till further order.
