Actor Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra has been granted bail by a Mumbai court, two months after his arrest over allegations of shooting and streaming porn. Kundra has been asked to furnish a surety of Rs 50,000 by the court. Ryan Thorpe, the IT head of one of Raj Kundra's firm, has also been granted bail by the Metropolitan magistrate court.Last Thursday, the Mumbai Police had filed a 1,400-page charge sheet in court listing charges against the businessman Kundra.
Advocate Prashant Patil, representing Raj Kundra, argued in court that the celebrity and producer decide what kind of content is to be uploaded on the platform. "It was not Kundra or Ryan who were deciding what was to be uploaded. In the 1400-page chargesheet, there was not a single piece of evidence showing that Kundra was uploading," said Patil. The prosecution, on the other hand, vehemently opposed the bail, arguing that it could lead to evidence tampering. Raj Kundra had on Saturday requested bail arguing that he was being made a "scapegoat" and that there was no evidence in the charge sheet that he was actively involved in creating porn content.
