Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Gaston Browne has said that fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi, who has been found in Dominica, will be repatriated to India. In an interview with ANI, Browne said, Dominica has agreed Choksi's repatriation and Antigua will not accept him back.He said, he has requested Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit and law enforcement in Dominica to not return Choksi to Antigua where he has legal and constitutional protection as citizen. Earlier, Antigua media reported that Mehul Choksi has been apprehended in Dominica and is in custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the country.
Browne said Mehul Choksi was a "crook" and that it's a matter of time before he would be extradited to India as he had exhausted all his legal options. According to media reports this is the second time Antiguan PM has assured that Choksi would be repatriated to India. Last year in June, he said the Antiguan authorities had agreed to revoke Choksi's citizenship after pressure from India. He also said Antigua was not trying to provide any safe harbour for criminals. Choksi is wanted by investigative agencies in India in the 13,000 crore rupees PNB scam on charges of fraud. He went missing on Sunday from Antigua and a manhunt was launched by the Antigua Police.
