The domestic share market recovered from initial losses to close more than 1% higher on Monday,as prospects of an Iran-US ceasefire boosted investor confidence. At close ,the Sensex was up 787.30 points or 1.07 percent higher at 74,106.85, while the Nifty advanced to 22,968.25, up 255.15 points or 1.12 percent.
Trent, Titan and Adani Enterprises were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Oil & Natural Gas Corporation and JSW Steel.On the sectoral front, most sectoral indices on the Nifty settled in the green, except oil and gas. The broader indices also gained, with the Nifty Smallcap100 and Nifty Midcap100 rising up to 1.5 percent.
Rupee Close:
On 6 Apr'26,the Indian rupee gained 14 paise to close at 93.04 against the US dollar on Monday, following the Reserve Bank's initiatives designed to curb speculative fervour and dampen volatility in the rupee.Forex traders said that though the RBI measures are rupee-positive, unabated withdrawal of foreign capital, a strengthening dollar, and rising crude oil prices amid a volatile geopolitical situation continue to put pressure on the rupee.According to information, the RBI tightened its rules to curb speculative positions and capped banks' net open positions at $100 million.
