The Indian equities extended gains for the third consecutive session on Thursday,supported by positive momentum in Asian equities and renewed ceasefire optimism in the Middle East.At close, the Sensex was up 1,000.36 points or 1.21 percent at 83,755.87, and the Nifty was up 304.25 points or 1.21 percent at 25,549. About 1983 shares advanced, 1855 shares declined, and 151 shares unchanged.
Shriram Finance, Hindalco Industries, Tata Steel, Jio Financial, Adani Ports were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Tech Mahindra, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki, SBI.On the sectoral front,private bank, oil & gas and metal indices up 1-2 percent, while realty, media indices shed 1 percent each.The BSE midcap index rose 0.5 percent and smallcap index ended flat.
Rupee Close:
On 26 June'25,the Indian rupee closed 38 paise higher to close at 85.71 against the US dollar on Thursday,supported by a declining dollar index and easing geopolitical tensions that boosted investor sentiment.
