Goyal eyes new avenues for Indian agri-food exports to Singapore

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has highlighted new opportunities for Indian farmers and processed food manufacturers to expand their presence in Singapore, the wider ASEAN region and Australia, while stressing the need to deepen India-Singapore economic ties, according to agency reports.Goyal made the remarks during his visit to Singapore, where he participated in the India-Singapore Business Forum and engaged with Singaporean entrepreneurs, Indian businesses and INSEAD alumni and students.The minister said new avenues are being created for Indian agricultural and processed food products to access overseas markets. He also highlighted India's growth trajectory, investment opportunities and government efforts to improve the ease of doing business.

Goyal met Singapore's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Industry Gan Siow Huang and other dignitaries at an APEDA-FairPrice roadshow-cum-in-store promotion aimed at expanding exports of Indian agricultural and processed food products.The promotion features a diverse range of products, including organic goods, fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, dairy products, cashews, rice and millet-based products sourced from different parts of India.
During his Singapore visit, Goyal also met Sopnendu Mohanty, Group CEO of Global Finance and Technology Network. They discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in financial innovation, technology and emerging areas of the digital economy.Goyal said India's dynamic financial ecosystem and Singapore's global financial and technology network offer significant opportunities for greater collaboration.He also held a meeting with Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel Infrastructure.Goyal further joined Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada for the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable with their Singaporean counterparts.
