The Indian share market traded positive on Thursday, snapping a seven session losing streak,amid buying across key sectors.The positive global cues on easing US Treasury yields also further added to investor sentiment.At close, the Sensex was up 628.04 points or 0.82 percent at 77,537.72, and the Nifty was up 153.55 points or 0.64 percent at 24,231.85.
Eternal, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finance, ITC, Shriram Finance were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Hindalco Industries, Bharat Electronics, Tata Consumer, Interglobe Aviation, Nestle.On the sectoral front,all the sectoral indices ended in the green with Media index up 2%, Realty index up 1.4%, while auto, FMCG, pharma, IT, private bank and infra up 0.4-0.8%.The broader market also ended higher, with mid-cap index rising 0.4% and small-cap index gaining 0.7%.

On 20Aug'26, the Indian rupee pared initial gains and settled for the day with gains of just 3 paise at 95.70 against the U.S. dollar on Thursday , as the support from the weaker dollar index was negated by elevated crude oil prices, according to agency reports.Forex traders said while a weaker U.S. dollar eases some depreciation pressure on the domestic currency, crude oil hovering above $90 would continue to keep pressure on India's import bill.
