The domestic share market ended the day on a positive note on Wednesday, after a volatile session driven by monthly derivatives expiry, with strength in IT, FMCG, and capital goods offsetting weakness in autos, PSU banks, and real estate counters.At close, Sensex was higher by 143.91 points or 0.18 percent at 81,481.86, and the Nifty was up 33.95 points or 0.14 percent at 24,855.05, while BSE Mid and Smallcap indices ended with marginal gains. Investors stayed cautious ahead of Fed rate decision later tonight.
L&T, Tata Consumer, NTPC, Sun Pharma, Maruti Suzuki were the major gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Power Grid Corp, Bajaj Auto and Eternal.On the sectoral front, auto, PSU Bank, realty were down 0.5 percent each, while IT, FMCG, consumer durables, capital goods saw buying.
Rupee Close:
On 30 July'25,depreciated 52 paise to close at 87.43 against the US dollar on Wednesday, on uncertainty over India-US trade deal after US President Donald Trump hinted at tariff rates of around 20-25 per cent ahead of the deadline of August 1.Forex traders said month-end dollar demand from importers and sustained foreign fund outflows weighed on the local unit.
