The domestic share market indices snapped a four-session winning streak on Monday, as heavy selling in metal, auto, realty, and FMCG sectors dragged the Nifty below 25,500 during intraday trade, before selective buying in PSU Bank, IT, and media stocks helped it close just above that level.At close, the Sensex was down 452.44 points or 0.54 percent at 83,606.46, and the Nifty was down 120.75 points or 0.47 percent at 25,517.05.About 2288 shares advanced, 1674 shares declined, and 160 shares unchanged.
Trent, SBI, IndusInd Bank, Bharat Electronics and Jio Financial were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Tata Consumer, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki.On the sectoral front, PSU Bank index rose 2.6 percent, while realty, FMCG, auto, metal ended in the red.BSE Midcap index rose 0.6 percent and smallcap index added 0.8 percent.
Rupee Close:
On 30 June'25,the Indian rupee pared initial gains and settled for the day in the negative territory, down 23 paise to close at 85.73 against the U.S. dollar on Monday,on weak domestic equities and a bounce back in crude oil prices.

Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments stated the global market sentiment is moving in favour of equities on account of easing risk in the Middle East and the US trade deal hopes. However, the main domestic indices witnessed profit booking after the recent rally.Investors are now turning their attention to quarterly earnings and will refocus the markets on fundamentals for valuation support. Mid & small caps outperformed in expectation of better earnings driven by consumption and margin expansion.
Market experts recommended five shares to buy on Monday-NDR Auto Components, Indraprastha Medical Corporation, LT Foods, Redington, and SML Isuzu.
