Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Sunday conducted two successful flight tests of Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) at Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the coast of Odisha. The flight tests were carried out as part of the live firing trials against high-speed aerial targets. The missiles intercepted the aerial targets and destroyed them completely, registering direct hits at both the ranges. The first launch was to intercept a medium altitude long range target and second launch was for proving the capability of a low altitude short range target. This MRSAM version is a Surface-to-Air Missile developed jointly by DRDO and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Israel for use by the Indian Army. The MRSAM Army weapon system comprises multi-function radar, mobile launcher system and other vehicles.
-National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has urged People to Join hands to clean Yamuna. NMCG is providing 2300 crore rupees funding for construction of sewerage infrastructure for cleaning Yamuna. As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the NMCG today organized Yamunotsav in association with a group of NGOs at ITO Bridge to celebrate the glory of Yamuna. All took a pledge to keep it clean. NMCG Director General G. Asok Kumar urged people to join hands to clean Yamuna and reiterated commitment to complete three big Sewage Treatment Plants, STPs on Yamuna by end of this year.
-Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the new office of Housing Board and Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) in Chandigarh on Sunday. He also inaugurated and laid foundation stones of various development projects in Chandigarh. Addressing the gathering, Shah said, laying of foundation stone and inauguration of development works worth 165 crore rupees have been done and these include education, water supply in 6 villages, construction of bus depots in industrial area and construction of hostels for boys and girls. Shah said that integrated command and control center, is going to bring about a drastic change in all areas of civil administration in Chandigarh in the coming days. There will be monitoring of many civil facilities from a single command center and there will also be a system to upgrade them. Shah said that this command center will create a new environment of traffic discipline including sending challans to home for breaking rules, security of Chandigarh and sending a police team in a moment when any missing object is noticed.
-In Manipur, the five days working in a week for all offices and PSUs under the State Government will be followed from the April 1. The State Cabinet meeting, which was the first such meeting after the formation of new State Government, decided that Monday to Friday will be working days in a week for all government offices in Manipur. An order issued by the Secretariat of the General Administration Department said that these working days will be followed by all government offices except vacation Departments. As per order, the working hours for government offices in Summer would be 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM including half hours lunch break starting from 1.00 PM. While the working hours in Winter season would be 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM including half hour lunch break. The school hours will start at 8.00 AM in all schools across the State from Monday to Saturday. The Department of Education (Schools) will decide and fix length of School hours separately for various levels, the order said.
-Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi has announced CSR projects of 2 crore rupees to be implemented in Darrang district of Assam. Joshi made this announcement during his visit to Darrang district. The Union minister said that Darrang is one of India’s aspirational districts under the aspirational districts program launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi . He said that these CSR projects of Coal India Limited will help in providing better education and healthcare to the people of Darrang. Under the CSR projects, Coal India Limited will help in constructing additional class rooms in 19 government schools and also take up 5 projects for improvement of healthcare infrastructure.
