West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee got injured during her campaign trail in Nandigram on Wednesday. She was taken to Kolkata for treatment. Speaking to reporters, Mamata Banerjee alleged she was “pushed” by someone and has claimed that there was a “conspiracy” against her. She added that her foot was swollen and that she wants to go back home to see her doctor. Asked if it was a planned attack, she said, "Of course it is a conspirac... there was no policemen around me".
The incident happened in the evening when Mamata Banerjee was outside a temple in the Reyapara area. "I was standing outside my car with the door open. I was going to a temple there to offer my prayers. Few people came around my car and pushed the door. The door hit my leg," she said. she also said that no local police personnel was present at the spot when the incident happened. Earliar, Mamata Banerjee filed her nomination for the Nandigram assembly seat.
TMC MP Nusrat Jahan wrote, "Strongly condemn the attack on our beloved leader Mamata Banerjee. You may try to harm her, but our Didi shall stand tall always. Pray for her speedy recovery." Reacting to Mamata Banerjee's injury, BJP leader Arjun Singh said, "She is doing drama only. 300 police personnel are providing security to the CM. She is doing this to get sympathy. If she was really attacked, why didn't the police arrest the person who did it? We have been saying it since the start that law and order is a big problem in the state."
