2 dead, 4 injured in electrocution incident in Lalbaug

Two people, including an eight-year-old girl, were killed and four others injured in an electrocution incident near a Ganapati pandal in Mumbai’s Lalbaug area early Sunday morning.
According to agency report, the incident occurred near the Kalachowki Vibhag Sarvajanik Ustav Mandal on Dattaram Lad Marg in Kalachowki around 2:20 am, when the area was witnessing heavy crowds amid the ongoing Ganapati festival.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade was alerted at 2:42 am, following which fire personnel, police, BEST and civic ward officials reached the spot.Five injured persons were taken to Masina Hospital in Byculla, while others were shifted to Global Hospital in Parel. Eight-year-old Raghni Ghanshyam Yadav was declared brought dead at Masina Hospital.

A woman later succumbed to her injuries at Global Hospital. Her identity was yet to be ascertained.Kiran Akbar Naik, 19, Tanvi Narsh Hande, 19, Sahil Sandip Tare, 19, and Ruhi Singh, 12, were undergoing treatment.
The Lalbaugcha Raja idol, associated with the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, has been a prominent Ganapati landmark since the establishment of the worship place in 1934.
