Maharashtra government has issued fresh guidelines to liquid medical oxygen - LMO manufacturers in the state to counter a possible third wave of Covid-19. Manufacturers and refillers of liquid medical oxygen have been asked to ensure that their storages are maintained at 95 per cent of the full capacity levels by 30th September and should continue maintaining the levels till further orders. To achieve 95 per cent storage capacity, manufacturers have to ensure that their plants run at full production capacity.
District collectors also have been asked to maintain the highest feasible levels of oxygen storage in their areas. On the other hand, the Maharashtra government has announced that all the religious places will be reopened from 7th October keeping in view of strict adherence of COVID-19 protocols. The government has also gave green signal to reopen a majority of the schools in the state, with restrictions, from 4th October onwards.
the state had experienced its second wave between April-Jun2021, in which there were 7 lakh active cases at its peak with a requirement of 1850MT of oxygen, and at that time, it was seen that certain manufacturers reported considerably depleted stocks of LMO. Maharashtra produces nearly 1400 MT of oxygen every day. The state has begun the installation of several PSA oxygen plants to augment supply.
