Katnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said that the state government have decided to give 'Y' category security to all three judges who gave the Hijab verdict. Police will probe the complaint thoroughly in which some people gave life threats to them, the chief minister said. A police case has been filed against unknown people for allegedly threatening the Karnataka High Court Chief Justice. In a First Information Report, lawyer Umapathi S alleged he received a video message on WhatsApp that gave an "open threat of murder" to Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi.The lawyer alleged the video "seems to have originated from Tamil Nadu in an open public meeting, where the speaker refers to the murder of Judge while walking in Jharkhand state.
The Karnataka High Court's order on the hijab ban has been challenged in the Supreme Court by Niba Naaz, a student. Basavaraj Bommai attacked the opposition by calling them "fake secular" ..He said, "Why are the "fake secular" lobby silent even after 3-4 days of the incident? People threaten to kill judges because of the verdict and they talk about how judges will meet with accident. Even after this, why are you all silent, just to appease the section? That is not secularism, it is communalism. I condemn this and you all should break your silence and we should be united.".
