Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that infrastructure is by itself is a necessary action and it has a ripple effect on our economy. Central Government is emphasising on to put money on infrastructure development in the country and has increased 34 percent budgetary grant in this sector, she added. The Finance Minister said this while inaugurating Right To Public Service (RTPS) web portal and an exhibition on Externally Aided Projects at a function in Guwahati on Thursday.
Ms. Sitharaman informed that an estimated cost of Rs. 3094 crores would be spent on the construction of the bridge. She said that this RTPS delivery of 46 notified public services to the people within the stipulated time limit will bring services closer to masses. She informed that the portal is created under the World Bank Financed Assam Citizen Centric Service Delivery Project of the Administrative Reforms and Training Department to allow citizens to apply for RTPS notified services online and also to promote proactive disclosure related to citizens’ entitlements.
Mrs. Sitharaman also performed bhumi pujan of 120 Megawatt Lower Kopili Hydro Electric project at Longku and laid the foundation stone for a 90 km road upgradation at Halflong in Dima Hasao district. The Hydro project which is funded by Asian Development Bank, Government of India and Government of Assam is expected to be completed by June 2024 . At Guwahati the Union Minister also inspected and reviewed the Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge project over the river Bharhmaputra, which is worth Rs. 2608 crore.Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and several of his cabinet colleagues were present on the occasion.
