Commerce and Industry Ministry said that electronic goods export has registered a tremendous growth of 49 percent between April to December 2021. During the same period in the year 2020, 7.4 billion US dollars worth of electronic goods were exported while in 2021, electronic items worth 11 billion were exported. Maximum 18 percent of electronic goods items were exported to USA followed by UAE. The top five export destinations in April-November 2021 are - USA (18 per cent), UAE (16.6 per cent), China (7.6 per cent), Netherlands (4.5 per cent) and Germany (4.2 per cent).
The Ministry said, electronic goods exports touched 1.67 billion US dollars in December last year registering a growth of 33.99 percent over 1.25 billion US dollars logged in December 2020. Mobile phones constitute a major chunk of export. Other items like laptops, tablets, TV, Industrial electronics, Auto electronics, Electronic components, LED Lighting, Strategic electronics, wearables and hearables, and telecom equipment were also exported. The overall electronic goods exports FY21 were $11.11 billion. "With $11.0 billion exports achieved in the first three quarters of FY22, the sector is set to break all-time record highs, far exceeding the previous high of $11.7 billion recorded in FY 20," the ministry added.
