Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh took a swipe at the United States’ F-35 programme on Saturday, saying American personnel do not even let Indian officials near the stealth fighter jet, even as Washington is reportedly discussing its sale to India. He said this while addressing a joint press conference on the sidelines of the concluding ceremony of the multinational air exercise Tarang Shakti-2026 in Jodhpur. The IAF chief clarify that the US has made no official offer to sell F-35 fifthgeneration fighter jets to India.Sitting alongside the commander of the US Air Force’s Pacific Air Forces (PACAF), he responded to a question about the reported F-35 offer with a humorous observation.

On Russia’s offer of the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet, Singh said, “we have come to know that they have sent the offer but no decision has been made”. “Once the decision is conveyed to us (by the govt), we will evaluate how well it (Su-57) meets our requirements,” he said. Singh described the conclusion of Tarang Shakti-2026, the second edition of the multinational air exercise, as a proud moment for the Indian Air Force.
Tarang Shakti-2026 brought together the Indian Air Force and participating air forces, including the US, France, Germany and Australia from eight nations, providing a platform for operational cooperation, professional exchanges and enhanced interoperability among participating forces.
