India's cumulative COVID recoveries highest in the world

The Government has said that India’s cumulative COVID-19 recoveries are the highest in the world. The Health Ministry said, the number of recovered COVID cases has reached around 97,50,000.The Ministry said, India’s present active caseload of around 2,81,000 consists of 2.77 per cent of India’s total positive cases. The country's COVID-19 recovery rate has also reached 95.78 per cent. It said, the country has reported less than 30,000 daily new cases continuously for the last 13 days.During the past 24 hours, 22,272 new cases were reported taking the total number of positive cases to over one crore one lakh. Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is at 1.45 per cent which is one of the lowest globally. During the last 24 hours, 251 deaths were reported taking the toll to 1,47,343.

-BJP National General Secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam has said that Congress wants to convert the farmer protests into a violent agitation. Speaking to the media in New Delhi he said that farmers and BJP workers in Punjab were celebrating former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birth anniversary n Friday when they were attacked by Punjab Police personnel. Gautam alleged that the Punjab Police acted on the behest of the Congress ruled State government. He added that in case there is any further violent episode in the protests, then the Congress and the left parties indulged in inciting and misguiding the farmers should be held responsible.

-The National Task Force, NTF on Saturday discussed evidence-based modifications in testing, treatment and surveillance strategies for COVID in view of the new virus strain from the UK. The meeting of the task force was convened by ICMR under the co-chairpersonship of Member Niti Aayog, Prof Vinod Paul and Secretary, Department of Health Research and Director General, ICMR, Prof Balram Bhargava. During the meeting, it was emphasized that since the UK variant strain is implicated to cause increased transmissibility of the virus, it is critical to identify individuals infected with this strain and adequately contain them to prevent its transmission in India. The National Task Force concluded that there is no need to change the existing Treatment Protocol in view of mutations emerging in the strain. The task force has recommended that in addition to the existing surveillance strategies, it is critical to conduct enhanced genomic surveillance for SARS-CoV-2 specially in incoming passengers from the UK. National Center for Disease Control, NCDC informed that the Government has taken cognizance of the reports of mutant variants reported from the UK and the response of other Countries to these reports. The situation is being monitored proactively.

-BJP MLA Rakesh Singh Baghel from Menhdawa assembly segment in the neighbouring Sant Kabir Nagar district was on Saturday booked on charges of cheating and forgery on orders of a court for lawmakers, police said on Saturday. The criminal case against the MLA was lodged for submitting a suspected fake Covid infection certificate from a private laboratory to the special court of Additional Sessions Judge Deepkant Mani to allegedly avoid his appearance before it, said Khalilabad police station's SHO Manoj Kumar Pandey. Besides the MLA, the chief medical officer of a government hospital in the district, Dr Hargovind Singh, too has been booked on same charges for not taking action against the MLA after he was not found in home isolation by the district's anti-Covid team.

-Suvendu Adhikari, TMC's Nandigram face who has joined BJP, on Saturday said that there is no discipline in his previous party. The BJP is on the other hand the world's largest political party and dedicated to the service of the nation, he said at a felicitation programme for those who quit the ruling TMC to join the saffron party.Continuing his comparison, Adhikari said that even resolutions taken at meetings were not recorded in the TMC."We who have quit TMC will work as disciplined soldiers so that BJP comes to power in the state in the assembly poll in 2021 and West Bengal becomes Sonar Bangla (Golden Bengal)," he said."West Bengal has to be handed over to the hands of the able leader Narendra Modi", Adhikari said.Referring to PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, Adhikari said many states have taken advantage of it to benefit its farmers. But West Bengal government has deprived the farmers from getting those benefits.
