The national target for food grain production has been set at 362.50 million tonnes for the 2025-26 Rabi season. Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Tuesday announced this in a press conference in New Delhi after he chaired discussions with state agriculture ministers during the National Conference on Agriculture – Rabi Campaign 2025. Chouhan noted that this year’s target is 2.4 per cent higher than the food grain production achieved in 2024-25. He assured that adequate seed stocks are available to meet the country’s requirements.

The Minister highlighted that the conference’s theme, One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team, reflects a significant move towards strengthening coordination and partnerships in the agricultural sector.Discussing the flood situation, Chouhan said that the government is making every possible effort to assist those affected. He mentioned that Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Assam, and parts of Haryana have been particularly impacted. The Centre will leave no stone unturned in supporting these States/UTs, the Minister said, adding that efforts are being made to ensure timely and adequate disbursal of insurance benefits to farmers for those covered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
