Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel has flagged off a special relief train from Gandhinagar Capital railway station, carrying over 400 tonnes of essential supplies and 70 tonnes of medicines for the flood-affected regions of Punjab.According to offical statement, the consignment includes food items such as wheat flour, rice, groundnut oil, sugar, onion, potato, and milk powder, along with 10,000 pieces each of tarpaulins, mosquito nets, and bedsheets. The relief effort is aimed at supporting families impacted by the widespread devastation caused by heavy rains and flooding.
In addition to the material aid, the Gujarat government has also extended financial assistance of Rs5 crore each to the governments of Punjab and Chhattisgarh to support their flood relief operations.Government spokesperson Rushikesh Patel said Gujarat had earlier dispatched nearly 8,000 kits of relief material and food supplies to affected areas of Chhattisgarh. “In view of the natural calamity in Punjab and Chhattisgarh, CM Bhupendra Patel has sent cheques of Rs5 crore each to both his counterparts, reaffirming Gujarat’s commitment to stand with them in this difficult time,” he said.
