In a Tit-for-Tat move, India bound all UK passengers,irrespective of their vaccine status, now have to carry negative RT-PCR report and stay in mandatory quarantine for 10 days after arrival in India from Monday. This comes after the UK revised its international travek norms, making quarantine and negative Covid-19 test mandatory for travelers from India. The UK’s fresh international travel norms essentially considered fully vaccinated Indians as “unvaccinated” and made it mandatory for them to quarantine for 10 days on arrival in the country.
Travellers who are not fully vaccinated, or vaccinated in a country such as India currently not on The UK government's latest travel rules where Covishield is an approved vaccine against Covid-19 but India's vaccine certificate is not recognised. India's stern measure comes after the Indian government warned of ‘reciprocal measures’ to the UK government's differential treatment of India's vaccination. the UK government’s recognised list, must take a pre-departure test. After arrival in the UK, they will need to self-isolate for 10 days. Several rounds of meeting took place between Indian and UK representatives. However, the 'reciprocal' move indicates that the issue over Covishield has not been resolved.
