India has set $1 bn turmeric export target by 2030: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday formally inaugurated the headquarters of the National Turmeric Board at Nizamabad in Telangana. Speaking on the occasion, Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fulfilled the 40-year-old dream of Turmeric farmers and the people by sanctioning the National Turmeric Board to Nizamabad. Stating that the centre is committed for the welfare of turmeric farmers, he said one billion dollars in exports of turmeric should be achieved by 2030. He said the turmeric farmers are not able to get the best price despite the best quality yield they are getting in and around Nizamabad. He said farmers will be imparted new skills and techniques through the board. Advocating the medicinal values of Turmeric, he said the entire world came to know about the curative nature of turmeric.

Shah ruled out any talks with Maoists and said the cadre of the proscribed outfit should give up arms, surrender before police, and join the mainstream.“Congress asks (the Centre) to hold discussions with these people (Maoists). Our government's policy is 'no talk' with those who hold arms. Give up weapons, surrender, and join the mainstream. If you don’t surrender, we have decided that before 31 March 2026, naxalism will be finished in this country,” the Home Minister said. He further said that about 10,000 people in the Northeast gave up weapons and joined the mainstream.

Union Coal Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home B Sanjay Kumar and state ministers Nageswar Rao and Anasuya Sitakka and senior leaders among others were present on the occasion.
