Cynicals disputing GDP figures, they see dead everywhere: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah  on Friday inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show UPITS at Greater Noida.Addressing the event Shah said that despite global uncertainties, India has achieved a 7.8 percent growth rate and is maintaining its position as the fastest-growing major economy.But there are some cynical individuals who attempt to discredit India's GDP figures, he said and added that some people perceive this as a 'dead economy.' I tell them: those whose own mindset is 'dead' cannot see vibrancy; all they see around them is lifelessness.

Shah said Uttar Pradesh had undergone a major change in its law-and-order situation since the BJP came to power in 2017. “There was a time when the mafia ruled UP. In 2017, the BJP formed the government here, with Yogi Adityanath assuming the role of CM. The Yogi government has successfully eliminated the mafia across the state, and this has created a conducive atmosphere for investment,” he said. Shah said a good law and order situation was a primary condition for creating an environment conducive to investment.The Home Minister said the BrahMos missile system being manufactured in the state and the AK-203 rifles being produced in Amethi highlight the state’s new role in defence production.

In his address, Chief Minister Yogi Aadityanath said, last year, 550 buyers from 72 countries were part of this trade show. This year, more than 600 buyers from 90 countries are expected to participate. He said , the Modi goverment has  signed Free Trade Agreements with many of the world's major countries and Uttar Pradesh is providing the most accessible pathway to leverage those agreements by inviting international companies to India and facilitating global exports. Yogi Adityanath said that the state has emerged as the manufacturing hub in the country. He highlighted the participation of Japan, Vietnam, Russia, Singapore, Austria, and Belarus as partner countries in the UPITS 2026. The Chief Minister noted that their special pavilions are elevating bilateral trade commitments to new heights, paving the way for strategic partnerships, technology transfers, and joint ventures.
