Hindi Diwas: Amit Shah hails Hindi as 'National Unity Force'

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several Chief Ministers on Monday highlighted the role of Hindi in strengthening national unity, cultural identity and communication across the country on the occasion of Hindi Diwas.
Amit Shah said his mother tongue is Gujarati, but Hindi helps him connect directly with people whenever he travels to different parts of the country. He said Indian languages played an important role after Independence by becoming mediums for nation-building, administration and taking development to the people.“Hindi, along with all other Indian languages, championed the cause of public awakening, national unity, and the ideals of freedom,” Shah said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also greeted Hindi lovers and people of the state, describing Hindi as a powerful expression of cultural consciousness, national unity and Indian identity. He called for collective efforts to promote, enrich and expand the use of the language.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said Hindi represents the country’s culture, traditions, folk consciousness and emotions. He urged people to honour and promote the language and work towards strengthening its position globally.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said Hindi is more than a language, describing it as an expression of India’s culture, values and national ethos. He called for its continued promotion and honour.

Under Article 343 of the Constitution, Hindi in Devanagari script is the Official Language of the Union. Article 351 directs the Union to promote, develop and enrich the Hindi language.
