The Nation celebrated the birth anniversary of youth Icon Swami Vivekananda on Tuesday. One of the greatest spiritual leaders of India, Swami Vivekananda introduced the world to the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga. He became popular in the western world after his famous speech at the World's Parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893. Vivekananda was the chief disciple of the 19th-century mystic Ramakrishna Paramhansa. He was the founder of the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to Swami Vivekananda on his Birth Anniversary, which is also celebrated as the National Youth Day in the country.
-Public and Private Health Facilities were felicitated with Kayakalp award for high standards of Sanitation and Hygiene. Applauding the importance of the Kayakalp scheme, Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said Kayakalp has not only been able to facelift the condition of public health facilities but has also made a significant impact in improving the behaviour of masses.The government had launched a National Initiative ‘Kayakalp’ on 15th May 2015 to ensure hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness in Public Health Facilities in India. He said the scheme, which saw the participation of 716 District Hospitals and central government institutions in its first year has spread to 26 thousand 172 public health facilities now. He said, Health Ministry had collaborated with Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation and launched Swachh Swasth Sarvatra programme, under which, one community health centre (CHCs) situated within ODF block receives one-time grant of 10 lakh rupees for undertaking improvement activities, so that the CHC becomes Kayakalp CHC.
-In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, setting the stage for election for the Chairpersons of District Development Councils, the UT Administration unveiled rules for reservation of these seats. As per the notification issued by the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, one third of the total number of seats for the offices of Chairpersons of DDC will be reserved for women. The allocation of seats to be reserved for women will be made on a three-point roster system after arranging them alphabetically. As per the roster, the first and second seat will be open while the third seat will be reserved for women. The number of seats to be reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be allotted to different District Development Councils on the basis of population of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
-The International Film Festival of India announced the line-up of films for its Festival Kaleidoscope. The section will feature 12 films from across the world. The films are: 'We Still Have the Deep Black Night', 'Window Boy Would also Like to Have a Submarine', 'Forgotten We’ll Be', 'Haifa Street', 'Love Affair (s)', 'Apples', 'Parthenon' , 'My Little Sister', 'The Death of Cinema' and 'My Father Too', 'The Big Hit', 'Valley Of The Gods' and 'Night of the Kings'.
-The police forces of India and Bangladesh will enhance their work against terrorist entities including the Global Terrorist Groups as well as other fugitives wherever they are present and active. The decision was taken during the delegation level dialogues between the police chiefs of India and Bangladesh held virtually on Tuesday. The two sides discussed ongoing bilateral cooperation and decided to further strengthen the relationship of the police forces between the two countries.Home Ministry in a statement said that designated ‘nodal points’ would be established for timely and effective handling and response to existing as well as emerging security and counter-terrorism challenges. The Ministry said that both sides agreed to enhance their work jointly against terrorist entities including the Global Terrorist Groups, as well as other fugitives. Both sides also reiterated the need for sharing of real time intelligence and feedback through the designated ‘nodal points’, while appreciating each other’s ongoing action against insurgent groups operatin
