In Pakistan, amid economic crisis, the PTI Chairman and former premier Imran Khan urged on Saturday the party leadership, workers and supporters to get ready for Jail bharo movement. Khan’s comments come in the wake of sedition cases filed against his party's Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry and former member of National Assembly Shadana Gulzar. Senator Azam Swati and Shahbaz Gill were booked earlier for speaking against the military. During his televised address, the deposed prime minister said his party could have opted for a nationwide strike, but will choose to fill the prisons instead in light of the fears that the country's economy might deteriorate further. The former prime minister said human rights violations have continued since the "imported government" arrived. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb chided the PTI leadership by saying that it didn’t even have the courage to go to jail and the announcement was merely to use party workers. Marriyum said, it would be better for Imran to go to the courts and face the cases pending against him.
Meanwhile Dawn report said that the IMF does not appear to be in a mood to soften the conditions attached to the loan. Some of the conditions, such as the removal of power subsidy for lifeline electricity consumers, may appear uncalled for and prove politically suicidal for the PML-N-led coalition. As per The News International report, the Pak authorities conceded that the power sector had so far proved to be a major stumbling block on the way to achieving smooth sailing. Although, the circular debt for the gas sector also remained a problematic area, finally they managed to proceed on this issue.
