An Indian Foreign Service officer died by suicide in Delhi's Chanakyapur Friday morning. Identified as Jitendra Rawat, he jumped off the roof of his government-allotted home - in a colony for External Affairs Ministry officers - at 6 am, said police sources. The ministry has released a statement confirming the death and asking for privacy. "An officer of the Ministry of External Affairs passed away in the morning of March 7 in New Delhi. The Ministry is providing all possible assistance to the family and is in touch with Delhi Police. Further details are not being released, bearing in mind the need to respect the family's privacy in this time of bereavement." According to a Delhi Police source, "Rawat was troubled for the past few days. No suicide note has been found." He lived on the first floor with his mother, and is survived by his wife and two children, who live in Dehradun. Rawat's mother was at home when he died. He was between 35 and 40 years old, sources said. The cops are investigating the tragic incident.
In another, incident, a CISF woman head constable Kiran, who was posted at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport ,allegedly died by suicide by shooting herself in a washroom of the airport, an official said on Friday. However, no suicide note was recovered from the spot.According to officials, 37-year-old Kiran died by suicide by shooting herself with her service pistol at 8:44 am while she was on duty. Police were alerted about the incident and teams were rushed to the spot. After receiving information about the incident, teams from the Delhi police and the Forensic Science Lab reached the spot and lifted exhibits. A forensics team has visited the spot and lifted exhibits, he said. The body has been taken into custody and sent for postmortem to Safdarjung Hospital.
