SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov has said, India has the potential to become one of the largest digital ecosystems in the world.He said this at a press conference in Beijing on the results of the recently concluded Council of Heads of Govt. He noted India’s proposal of creating a Special Working Group on Start-ups and Innovation and a working group on traditional medicines.He said that with over 1 billion mobile phone subscribers and over 600 million internet users, India has the potential to become one of the largest digital ecosystems in the world. Norov praised India’s hosting of 19th meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Govt on 30th Nov. and noted that India intended to take cooperation within the SCO to new heights by playing an active, positive and constructive role.He added that India is also ready to share its best practices in the micro and medium sized business sector which has emerged as a vibrant economic growth sector in recent years, plays an imp role for large scale employment and contributed to the industrialization of rural and backward areas.
-Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has appealed Finance Commissions and local bodies to encourage green buildings through tax incentives. Naidu called for mass media campaign to create awareness about the green homes.Inaugurating the 12th GRIHA(Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) Summit virtually on Tuesday, Naidu said Green buildings movement should become people’s movement.He called for balance between economic development and environmental protection. Naidu emphasised the need to promote green building concept by both the private sector and the government.Noting that "Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan" envisions making India self-reliant in all spheres, the Vice President re-emphasised the need for sustainable development and wanted awareness to be increased among the people in this regard.Calling buildings as one of the major contributors of greenhouse gas emissions, Mr Naidu said that there is a need for concerted and coordinated efforts from all stakeholders to ensure that the buildings are environment-friendly and energy and resource-efficient.
-Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that Central Government and States are working together to attract and promote investments in the country.Addressing the inaugural session of Confederation of Indian Industry's Partnership Summit 2020, Goyal said, a number of new schemes have been introduced including Production-Linked Incentive Scheme to attract industries to come to India.He said, there is a investment promotion cells in all the Ministries.The Minister said, the aim of the government is not only to grow sustainably at high levels but achieve the target of becoming a 5 trillion dollars economy by 2025.
Goyal said, historic reforms in different sectors will hold the country in good stead in our effort to improve prosperity levels of the people.He said, in the new world, there will be new opportunities. Goyal said, India has focused on reform in four major challenge as for growth.These are Capital, Labour, Land and removing barriers for new businesses.
-Eminent aerospace scientist Prof. Roddam Narasimha passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru. He was 87. Prof Narasimha had served as Director of National Aerospace Laboratories and Chairperson of the Engineering Mechanics unit of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research in Bengaluru. Earlier he taught Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science. He was bestowed with Padma Vibhushan in 2013 for his contribution to the country’s aerospace programmes like Light Combat Aircraft. He had also served on many policy making bodies of the Central Government including the Space Commission, the Prime Minister’s Science Advisory Council and the National Security Advisory Board.
-In Bihar, free covid vaccination will be given to people of the state.This decision was taken at cabinet meeting which was chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.The cabinet also took decision to provide employment to 20 lakh unemployed youths in next five years. For employment the state government will provide grant of five lakh rupees to each unemployed youth. Fifty percent subsidy will be also given.It may be noted that during Bihar assembly elections BJP had promised to give free covid vaccination and employment opportunity to unemployed youths.
