Govt to bring Seed Act 2026 in Budget Session of Parliament

The Government will bring Seed Act 2026 in the Upcoming Budget Session of Parliament. Briefing Media in New Delhi on Friday, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the legislation aims to curb the sale of poor-quality, fake, and unauthorized seeds. It also aims to ensure high-quality, certified seeds for farmers, strengthening enforcement against substandard inputs and promoting climate-resilient varieties. Further, He said the new law will also ensure full traceability, so farmers can know where the seeds came from and who supplied them.

The minister said about 46 per cent of the country’s population still depends on farming for their livelihood, and ensuring better income to farmers is a key government priority.
