Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday said, India will take a leading position in production of millets. Mr. Tomar said that the Government is taking necessary steps to achieve nutrition security along with food security. Inaugurating the two-day Nutri-Cereal Multi-Stakeholders’ Mega Convention 3.0 at Hydrabad, the minister said, it was upon India’s initiative that the United Nations declared year 2023 as the International Year of Millets. He said, Millets in daily diet will fight malnutrition. Recalling that since ancient times, millets have been used in abundance in the country, he urged the present generation to understand the importance of nutritious food grains like millets and make it a part of their daily diet. Tomar said, Central Government has announced various packages under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund worth 1.5 Lakh Crore rupees to fill the gaps in the agriculture sector. He said that to encourage the next generation to invest in agriculture and to ensure profitable yields for the crops, new farm laws have been enacted. The minister highlighted that the government is going to spend 6,850 Crore rupees to set up 10,000 new Farmers’ Producing Organisations (FPOs) and as a result lives of about 86 percent of farmers would be transformed.
-Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday said, skill trainers have to play a crucial role in realizing the vision of Prime Minister of making India, the skill capital of the world. Pradhan pitched for adopting a bottom-up approach with a focus on innovative ways to upskill trainers, and plan skill development at the grassroots. Mr. Pradhan virtually presented Kaushalacharya Awards 2021 to 41 skill trainers for their exemplary contribution to the skill ecosystem. These 41 trainers are from several initiatives and training programmes of Skill India- Directorate General of Training (DGT), Apprenticeship, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) and Entrepreneurship.
-Union Minister of AYUSH and Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday asserted that Kashmiri migrants constitute part and parcel of Jammu & Kashmir’s composite culture. The Minister is in Kashmir in connection with Central Govt’s initiative of Public Outreach Programme for Jammu and Kashmir. He affirmed that the union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very keen towards the welfare of Kashmiri migrants and said that several concrete measures have been taken in order to ensure their rehabilitation so that they live in their homeland with peace and harmony.The Minister made these remarks after laying the foundation stone of Transit Accommodation Camp at Khawja Bagh in Baramulla. The Transit camp, having the accommodation facility for about 337 families, shall be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 4,032 lakh having cost on each flat of Rs 12 lakh. About 50 kanals of land has been acquired for the purpose. Union Minister also visited Ganderbal district where he inaugurated the 1st batch of BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery) course of the Government Unani Medical College & Hospital at Nawab Bagh Ganderbal.
-In a major boost to connectivity between India and Bangladesh a new Passenger Terminal (I) Building was inaugurated on Friday at the Integrated Check Post (ICP), Petrapole in West Bengal. The new PTB (I) is equipped with facilities such as Immigration, Customs and Security under one roof. The Terminal Building is also equipped with 32 immigration counters, 4 customs counters, 8 security counters and has adequate office spaces for allied stakeholders. It will facilitate smooth and comfortable movement of passengers, said the press release issued by the High Commission of India in Bangladesh.ICP Petrapole is the largest land port in India and 9th largest land port in South Asia handling about 23 lakh passengers annually. Built by the Land Port Authority of India, it is capable of handling 550 passengers at any point of time. LPAI is also in the process of constructing a new state-of-the-art Passenger Terminal Building (II) at ICP Petrapole which will have a handling capacity of half a million. The construction work commenced in February 2020 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
-Union Home minister Amit Shah has made it clear that the team at the Central Government is moving ahead with a comprehensive vision which includes development for all. Addressing a public meeting held at Nirmal Town, commemorating the Telangana Liberation Day on Friday, he said the Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is performing better on every front. Referring to development in the state, Mr Shah said the central government is leaving no stone unturned in the development of Telangana. He slammed the ruling TRS government for not holding liberation day celebrations officially while the Karnataka and Maharashtra Governments are celebrating it. He alleged that the TRS is colluded with MIM and doing appeasing politics. Stating that the BJP is the only party which can be an alternative to the TRS in Telangana, Shah said the Congress party is getting wiped out from across the country. He further assured people of Telangana that the BJP if voted to power in next election, it will celebrate Telangana Liberation Day officially.
