G-7 wants transparent probe by WHO into origin of Coronavirus

Leaders at the G-7 summit in UK will call for a new transparent investigation by the WHO into the origins of Coronavirus. According to a draft communique, the G-7 countries will also pledge 1 billion doses of Corona vaccine for the countries around the world. The leaders of G-7 states - Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and US will gather in British sea-side resort of Cornwall for the three-day summit beginning Friday. India first backed call for the further investigation on May 28, days after US President Joe Biden asked intelligence agencies to redouble their efforts to gather information to facilitate a definitive conclusion on the origion of the Coronavirus.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expects the Group of Seven (G7) to agree to donate 1 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses to poorer countries during its summit starting on Friday, and help innoculate the world by the end of next year. "As a result of the success of the UK's vaccine programme we are now in a position to share some of our surplus doses with those who need them," Johnson will say on Friday, according to excerpts of the announcement released by his office.

Earlier, Johnson hailed U.S. President Joe Biden on Thursday and praised his determination to work with allies on important global issues ranging from climate change and COVID-19 to security. "It's a big breath of fresh air," Johnson said of a meeting that lasted about an hour and 20 minutes. "It was a long, long, good session. We covered a huge range of subjects," he said. "It's new, it's interesting and we're working very hard together."The two leaders appeared relaxed as they admired the view across the Atlantic. Johnson, prime minister of the United Kingdom, on Thursday gave US president Joe Biden a framed photograph of a British mural as a nod to the 'Black Lives Matter' movement that has pushed race relations to the fore in both countries. Johnson presented his gift during a G7 summit.

Appreciating the UK prime minister's gift, Biden reciprocated by presenting Johnson, a keen cyclist, with an American-made bicycle and helmet. The US president also gave a silk scarf and leather bag made by military.
