The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it is mooting the formation of a committee to hold talks with the agitating farmers and settle the matter amicably. A Bench comprising Chief Justice SA Bobde and Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian said the panel will have members of Bharatiya Kisan Union, Government of India and other farmer organizations. He asked the petitioners to make protesting farmers' associations party to their petitions and they will have to be heard. A series of petitions were filed before the Supreme Court, both for and against the protest.
The Court was hearing two petitions seeking removal of farmers protesting at the Delhi -NCR borders against the recently passed Farm Acts.The Apex court has issued notice to Central, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Punjab governments in the petition. It has also said the petitioners can implead the orgnaisations and unions representing the protesting farmers. The case will be heard again on Thursday.The court has issued notice to the Centre as well as the Delhi, Punjab and Haryana governments and said they will have to respond by Thursday before winter vacation begins.
