Everest BKCC (Everest Better Kitchen Culinary Challenge) season 3 for hospitality students, excited budding chefs of Tamil Nadu by participation of more than 40 teams. Chennai was the third destination of EverestBKCC Season 3 which is planned in 10 cities namely Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Nagpur and Pune. Winners of all cities will be called for the grand finale in Pune on 26 April, 2022. Winner of the grand finale will get the placement in America, Australia or France. Theme of the challenge is Flavours of India and the intent is to create awareness about the regional cuisines and make Indian food popular using Indian spices across the globe. The culinary challenge was organized at SRM Institute of Hotel & Catering Management, SRM University Campus, Chennai. The event is supported by Incredible India, Worldchefs, Indian Culinary Forum, Western Chefs Association (WICA) and Hospitality Purchasing Managers’ Forum (HPMF).
The jury members of the EverestBKCC Season 3 at Chennai were from South India Chef’s Association namely Dr. Chef Joseph Paul, Chef Suresh Kanna, (SICA Board Member) Chef Rahul Bhale and Chef Satish Kumar. Year 2022-23 is International Millet Year and Millet was the compulsory ingredient in any one the of three course menus during the culinary challenge. Jury members appreciated the use of ingredients, innovation and plating done by students. They urged the students to actively take part in these competitions and upgrade their culinary skills. Ekta Bhargava, Publisher of Better Kitchen shared the objective of this challenge is to prepare the students for their future and make Indian regional food using local ingredients as a global food. This challenge is the best way of providing them a platform to showcase their skill of creativity and use ingredients in the proper way.
The winner of EverestBKCC Season 3 – Chennai's best team was Everest Rajma Masala, first runner-up and second runner-up were Everest Pani Puri Masala and Everest Tikhalal Extra Hot respectively. Partners of the event were Wisdom Career and Education, Chefs Unlimited, Tabasco, Barila, Loacker and Lotus.
