India reported 60,753 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, As per the Health Ministry data on Saturday. 97,743 patients recovered during the same time, taking the total tally to 2,86,78,390 recoveries across the country so far. Meanwhile, India's active caseload has further declined to 7,60,019, making it the lowest after 74 days. Meanwhile, the recovery rate has increased to 96.16 per cent. The weekly positivity rate remains below 5 per cent, currently at 3.58 per cent. The daily positivity rate is at 2.98 per cent, less than 5 per cent for 12 consecutive days.
On the other hand, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has written to all state chief secretaries and UT administrators, asking them to continue the ‘test-track-treat’ strategy to fight Covid-19 the pandemic. He has also asked to ensure the testing rate does not go down and demanded the vaccination pace be stepped up. it would be extremely important to follow the fivefold strategy of COVID appropriate behaviour, test-track-treat and vaccination. Regular monitoring of COVID appropriate behaviour is required to prevent relapse. he said. As the situation is dynamic, a close watch needs to be kept on early signs of a surge in active cases or high positivity rates, letter noted.
Whereas, Assam Chief Minister Himata Biswa Sarma has ordered all the government staff to get vaccinated in the next 10 days as offices are about to reopen from July 1. Assam is aiming to vaccinate three lakh people daily from June 21. The state hopes to inoculate half of its population in one month. The Patna High Court on Friday observed that the Bihar government's reluctance to put the state's COVID-19 death count in the public domain is uncalled for and asked it to register the numbers daily. The court also asked the state government to sensitise the people, particularly in rural areas, about their right to obtain information online.
