Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Thursday inaugurated the family housing complex of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Dwarka, Delhi. Senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the CISF personnel and their families were also present on the occasion. In his address, Rai said, the Ministry of Home Affairs is engaged in a number of welfare efforts for the Central Police Forces. 768 new houses with major facilities have been constructed in the family residential complex for the members of CISF. He said that construction work of single houses for 2,500 force members in Delhi is in progress. An amount of 133.08 crore rupees has been provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs for the upgradation/transformation of these houses.
-Union Minister for Electronics & IT, Communications and Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Thursday felicitated the winners of the Cyber Security Grand Challenge. The winners of Grand Challenge were awarded with a trophy each and cash prize money of One Crore rupees to the winner, 60 lakh rupees to the first runner-up and 40 lakh rupees to the second runner-up. Vaishnaw said, we are living in a connected world today and there is a clear convergence of computing, communication, and sensors. These three technologies have not only reduced cost but increased capabilities and complexities.
-Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Narayan Rane chaired the "North East MSME Conclave" on Thursday at Guwahati for promoting entrepreneurship and opportunities for MSMEs in the North-Eastern Region. Addressing the conclave, Rane said that MSME sector plays a significant role in terms of job creation and expanding manufacturing base. He added that the impact of MSMEs on our economy is immense and it can play the pivotal role in fulfilling Prime Minister's dream of Atmanirvar Bharat. The Union Minister said that MSME sector can increase our per capita income and such conclaves will help North East Region in its efforts towards encouraging entrepreneurship and enhancing competitiveness of the sector in the changed economic scenario.
Mr Rane said that India can develop only when we develop the North-east and it is also the top most priority of his Ministry to bring in economic prosperity to the region and set a target of 50 per cent growth of MSME sector in the next five years for this region. The Union Minister has launched a seperate website of MSME for North-East and Sikkim on this occasion. Currently, MSME sector consists of over 6 crore units employing over 11 crore people and is a seminal contributor to the economic growth with over 30 per cent of contribution to GDP and over 49 per cent of overall exports from India.
-The Bombay High Court on Thursday took on record additional documents submitted by NCP leader Nawab Malik to support his claim that Narcotics Control Bureau’s Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede is a Muslim. Malik filed the school admission form and school leaving certificate mentioning that Wankhede was born a Muslim. On the other hand, Sameer Wankhede’s father, Dnyandev submitted a set of counter documents that included his son's birth certificate and caste certificate allegedly showing that he indeed belongs to a Scheduled Caste. A single bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar was hearing a defamation suit filed by Dnyandev Wankhede, also seeking an injunction against Nawab Malik so that he does not post any defamatory content on social media. Taking on record all the documents, the court directed both the parties to refrain from submitting any fresh documents until it pronounces its order on 22nd November.While Nawab Malik has alleged that Sameer Wankhede is a born Muslim, who secured a government job from the Scheduled Caste quota. The Wankhede family has, however, denied all the allegations.
-Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) has projected a real rate of growth of 7 to 7.5 per cent and a nominal rate of growth of more than 11 per cent in 2022-23. Members of the EAC-PM has expressed optimism about real and nominal growth prospects in 2022-23 in a meeting held in New Delhi today. Members felt that contact intensive sectors and construction should recover in 2022-23 and once capacity utilization improves, private investments should also recover. It was stressed that there should also be a clear road-map for privatization and the growth orientation of last year’s Budget should also be maintained.
