Two-time Olympic medal winner Neeraj Chopra tied the knot with Himani in an intimate ceremony. Neeraj shared the news on his social media handles. "Grateful for every blessing that brought us to this moment together. Bound by love, happily ever after," wrote Neeraj. As soon as he shared the news, his social media handles were flooded with congratulatory messages.Neeraj Chopra's uncle Bhim told PTI,“Yes, the marriage took place in India two days back. I can’t tell the place where it took place,” Bhim told from his village at Khandra near Panipat in Haryana.
Neeraj's wife, Himani, is currently studying in USA, as per the athlete's uncle. The pair got married in the presence of close friends and family members, in a private function.According to the All India Tennis Association (AITA) website, Himani’s career-best national ranking was 42 in singles and 27 in doubles in 2018. She started playing in 2018 only in AITA events.
On professional front, Neeraj will be bringing a Continental Tour Javelin-Only competition to the country. The upcoming event has also been endorsed by the World Athletics and the Athletics Federation of India. However, the date of the event is yet to be finalised, with reports claiming that it will be held in May this year. Some top men's and women's javelin throwers will headline the event, including India's golden boy Neeraj.
Neeraj made headlines after he won the 2016 U-20 World Athletics Championship. He continued to rule the field and won gold medals in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in 2018. Neeraj became India's first athlete to win a gold in athletics with an 87.58 m throw in the Javelin event in the Tokyo Olympics 2021. Neeraj was expected to defend his gold at the Paris Olympics 2024, however, he came second to Arshad Nadeem and won a Silver for the country.
