Situated in the Runn of Kuch Harappan-era city Dholavira has also been declared as World Heritage site.The ongoing 44th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO has already given India a new world heritage site in the form of the Rudreswara temple in Telangana, which dates back to the 13th century. UNESCO tweeted, "Dholavira: A Harappan City, in India, just inscribed on the @UNESCO #WorldHeritage List. Congratulations!". Dholavira is one of the most prominent archaeological sites in India belonging to the Indus Valley Civilization or Harappan culture, dating back to 4500 years.
The ongoing 44th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO has already given India a new world heritage site in the form of the Rudreswara temple in Telangana, which dates back to the 13th century. With the addition of Rudreswara temple and Dholavira, India’s number of World Heritage sites has increased to 40. Dholavira was discovered by the Archaeological Survey of India in 1967. However, it has been systematically excavated only since 1990.
