Delhi Police upgrades online citizen services

Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan has said that the youth, both from India as well as Diaspora community have made a remarkable journey in innovation, technology and creativity. Addressing the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas Conference 2022 through video conferencing on Sunday, he said, youth are playing a key role in determining the direction of where our society and the world is moving by bringing technological changes and using it in innovative ways. He said, as per World Bank estimates India will be an economy with a GDP of 10 trillion dollars and the Youth will have a key role in it. Muraleedharan said, from Sundar Pichai to Parag Agarwal and from Rajeev Suri to Leena Nair, several luminaries are proof of Indian youth leadership on the global stage.

-Two terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in Hasanpora area of Kulgam district in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. A police spokesperson said that the identity of the slain terrorists is yet to be ascertained. The spokesperson added that incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.

-Veteran singer and actor Pandit Ramdas Kamat passed away at his residence in Vile Parle, in Mumbai on Saturday late night. He was 90 years old. Pandit Ramdas Kamat started his career in the musical theater with the play 'Sangeet Sanshay Kallol' by The Goa Hindu Association. He had since acted in eighteen musical dramas. Pandit Kamat was born in Mapusa in Goa. He took music education from his elder brother Upendra since childhood, and also learned musical drama from him. Along with Pandit Govind Buwa Agni, Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, he had undergone training in drama music and acting by Prabhakar Pendharkar and Bhalchandra Pendharkar.

-In an initiative to enhance its citizen service delivery for complainant satisfaction, Delhi police has upgraded its online citizen services and has started providing automatically generated s to complainants on the investigation of their cases. Apart from the registration of the FIR, the complainants will now also be informed about arrest of accused and filing of chargesheet and final report, on their mobile numbers and through email. When there are multiple accused, the will be sent in case of arrest of each of the accused person, as and when they are arrested. This development comes after Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana directed the Crime Branch to ensure regular updating of complainants on the progress of investigation at various stages. When an FIR is registered, the complainant is required to mention his or her mobile number or email address, wherein the s on FIR Registration and assigning of Investigating Officer for  investigation or chargesheet or final report can be given to them. 

-In Jammu and Kashmir, the beating retreat ceremony of BSF held every weekend at Suchetgarh Border Outpost on the International Border (IB) in R.S. Pura sector has been suspended till further orders owing to a surge in coronavirus cases. According to an order issued by Jammu Divisional Administration in view of the surge in Covid positive cases and latest Covid related guidelines, the beating retreat ceremony shall not be held from today onwards, till further orders. However, after reviewing the Covid situation after two weeks, a decision regarding the resumption of the ceremony would be taken accordingly. The ceremony was launched in October last year as part of the border tourism promotion programme.
