President Ram Nath Kovind said that Lachit Borphukan will remain inspirational for the generations to come. The President emphasised to take efforts to make him households name in the country. Kovind said this while inaugurating the year-long celebration to mark the 400th birth anniversary of the great Ahom general Lachit Borphukan in Guwahati on Friday. The President launched the birth anniversary celebration of Borphukan by laying the foundation for the re-development of the general’s memorial in Jorhat district. Kovind also laid the foundation for a memorial of the Alaboi Battle at Dodora in Kamrup district. Remembering the heroic of great Ahom general Lachit Borphukan, the President said that Assam foiled all attacks in medieval period. Kovind further said that the leaders like Lachit Borphukan and Shivaji will be remembered always. He.said that the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the occasion on 75th years of independence is an occasion to know the heroes of the countries by the young generation.
-In view of decline in Covid-19 cases, Delhi Disaster Management Authority, DDMA has decided to lift all Covid related restrictions imposed in the national capital from Monday. This was decided in the DDMA meeting which was chaired by Delhi Lt. Governor Anil Biajal to review the Covid-19 situation. In a tweet, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal informed that city schools will function fully offline from 1st of April this year. The amount of fines imposed for not wearing masks has also been reduced from earlier two thousand rupees to 500 rupees. He also urged the people of Delhi to continue to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour. Jharkhand government has removed all imposed COVID-19 restrictions after witnessing a declining trend in Corona cases in the state. Chairing the Disaster Management meeting on Friday, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given permission to open all classes above Class 1 and coaching institutes in all districts from March 7 onwards. However, the education department has not been permitted to conduct offline examinations for classes 1 to 8 till March 31 in schools located in 7 districts - Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Deoghar, Chatra, Simdega, Seraikela-Kharsawan and Bokaro. Parks, tourist places, swimming pools, stadiums and Anganwadi centers, have been allowed to open. Meanwhile, shops have also been permitted to remain open till their normal hours. Restaurants, bars, cinemas will operate now with their full capacity. Government has allowed gathering of 500 people in wedding ceremonies or other programs. The government still continues to ban fairs, processions, exhibitions.
-Union Minister for Small, Micro, and Medium Enterprises Narayan Rane on Friday inaugurated the Konkan Bamboo and Cane Development Center (KONBAC) at Kudal in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. On the occasion, Rane said that the Union Ministry of MSMEs has provided Rs 1.45 crore for the development of this group, out of which 300 artisans will be assisted. He further said that Konkan region is famous for mango and cashew nut growers, many people have accepted these products as business products, similarly, the need is to concentrate on the growth of Bamboo production as a business product that would have tremendous potential.
-Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has said there is a need to follow a risk assessment-based approach on the opening of economic activities in the country as there is a substantial decline in number of Covid-19 cases. In a letter addressed to all Chief Secretaries of the states Bhalla, however, emphasized that while allowing such activities the Covid appropriate behaviour should be followed. The home secretary asked the chief secretaries after a careful analysis of the local situation, relaxation in various activities may be considered such as cultural and religious festivals, night curfew, and other commercial activities.
-Union Steel Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh on Friday inaugurated the Conference with Mines and Industry Ministers of mineral-rich states of the country at Konark in Odisha. The Minister of State for Steel and Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste was also present on the occasion. Various states including Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha are participating in the conference.
