Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out at the Congress during the BJP parliamentary meeting of the MPs on Tuesday. At the meeting, the PM said the Congress is losing, but continues to indulge in the “politics of lies”. Modi said that a deliberate attempt is being made to create a negative atmosphere. Targeting the opposition Congress, PM Modi said, "It has not been able to come out of the coma (that) we have come this far. Congress' behaviour is unfortunate, they are not able to digest the fact that we have reached this far and that there is no shortage of vaccine. Even in Delhi, 20% of the frontline workers have not been vaccinated." The Prime Minister also asked the MPs to be prepared "with more boots on the ground" for the third wave of the pandemic, which according to experts will strike in August-September.
Meanwhile, a day after the monsoon session of parliament began with adjournments and protests by opposition, high drama continues with the Pegasus snooping row escalating and names of politicians and journalists on the list of potential targets. Four opposition parties - the Congress, the Trinamool Congress, Arvind Kejriwal's AAP and the CPM - gave notices under rule 267 in Rajya Sabha, demanding suspension of the scheduled business of the House to discuss the Pegasus spyware controversy. The opposition parties decided to raise the controversy all day long.
