Country's coal production increased by two percent to 79.54 million tonnes from 77.99 metric tonnes during last month as compared to February 2020. The Coal Ministry said, coal based power generation has registered a growth of 7.58 per cent in the month of February in comparison to corresponding period of 2020. The overall power generation during last month has been 5.49 per cent higher than the power generated in February 2020. Coal dispatch increased by 7.48 per cent to 71.27 metric tonnes from 66.31 metric tonnes during February this year as compared to February 2020.
-Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately take steps to help the children returning from Ukraine to complete their medical education in the Country. In a letter to the Prime Minister , Stalin informed that more than 1200 medical students have returned so far and the remaining students are also expected to return in the coming days. Explaining that the students are facing uncertainties presently as the current situation in Ukraine will also make it difficult for the students to return for their studies, Stalin requested the Prime Minister to take up the issue with the National Medical Commission and the relevant Ministries to enable the affected students to complete their medical education. He assured the Prime Minister of unstinted support to all the efforts.
-In Leh District, the schools for Six to Twelve classes reopened after a long gap. Across the district, under the Back to School banner, the schools reopened under festivity. There was festive fervor at the schools as they were decorated with colorful balloons and welcoming the students. The students were given traditional white scarves and received with welcome songs by the teachers. At many schools, the students were also given pens, books, stationery items on their arrival. The students expressed happiness to be back and could meet their friends in the schools. The District Chief Education Officer Sonam Dorjey Namgyal appealed to the students to follow Covid SoPs to keep the schools open. He congratulated the students for the good results despite the pandemic hurdles. Leh District Disaster Management Authority Chairman and Deputy Commissioner, Shrikant Suse said, across the district the administration celebrated the reopening of schools.
-The Assam police arrested wanted Maoist leader Arun Kumar Bhattacharya alias Kanchan Da in Cachar district yesterday. Acting on a tip off, police teams conducted multiple raids at various places of Assam and Manipur. Along with Kanchan Da, police have also arrested Akash Urnag alias Rahul who is member of Assam state organizing committee of CPI- Maoist. AIR correspondent reports that Kanchan Da was a member of the Central committee and strategist of CPI- Maoist. The outfit has been making attempts to spread the root of the organization in Assam and North East.
-In Madhya Pradesh, the budget session of the state Legislative Assembly began on Monday with the address by Governor Mangubhai Patel. This session will continue till March 25. There will be thirteen sittings of the House in this nineteen-day session.In his address, the Governor while mentioning the various schemes of the government said that it is time to change the fortune of Madhya Pradesh. Team Madhya Pradesh is working for the development and progress of the state without losing a moment.The Governor also presented the future roadmap of the state government in the address.
