NCP chief Sharad Pawar has alleged that central agencies including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) being used for political reasons by the central governarement. Addressing the press on Wednesday in Mumbai, Sharad Pawar said NCP leader and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh's house was raided for the fifth time on Monday, which he said was a "record". Pawar also raised doubts over missing former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.
"In Anil Deshmukh case, a former police commissioner made allegations. He met me to make the same allegations. After this, Deshmukh resigned. The one who made the allegations is nowhere to be seen and is absconding," Sharad Pawar said. "A responsible official made allegations and resigned after that. But the one who made the allegations is missing. This is the difference," he added. Speaking on the allegations made by NCP leader Nawab Malik against the NCB, Sharad Pawar said, "In this case, Nawab Malik has made some remarks about an official named Wankhede. He was with customs earlier. I have heard some things about him. But I won't talk about it as I don't have more information on that." Sharad Pawar also said the Mumbai Police's Anti-Narcotics Cell has done a better job than the NCB. Speaking on Lakhimpur Kheri violence case in which eight people were killed, Sharad Pawar said such incidents never happened in the past.
